 ALL-STAR MUSICIANS TEAM UP TO BENEFIT CATALYST HIGH SCHOOL


Six hours of entertainment for a recession-friendly $22, featuring Hazel Miller, Wendy Woo, Girls on Top and more!


On Sunday, May 17th, from 6pm to midnight, an all-star line-up of local favorites will take the stage at the Fox Theatre in Boulder to benefit Catalyst.


Performances by:
• Singer/songwriter John Runnels, 2009 winner of the CU Idol Competition
• Recording artist and longtime Boulder-based favorite Wendy Woo
• Samba/Brazilian Jazz/Bossa Nova/Choro group Ginga
• Local legend Hazel Miller, multi-year Westword “Best Blues/R&B” performer
• Papa Juke, the host band for Westword’s 2009 Best Blues Jam
• High-energy R&B and dance band Girls on Top
• All-Star Jam, with special guests Erica Brown and Lionel Young

Catalyst Students Attend the Conference on World Affairs
Last week, many Catalyst students were on the CU Boulder campus for the annual Conference on World Affairs. At the CWA, students enjoyed the opportunity to listen to a panel of experts discussing a particular topic, from politics and international issues to technology or the humanities. 

Enrollment is Open for Summer and Fall

New After Hours Activities for Students
This week, the new session of after school activities will begin with Cooking and Film Making! These classes are offered at an additional fee; scholarships are available.

The following courses are now being offered to students from other schools who still need the course to graduate from high school. These classes generally meet after regular school hours. Offerings include:

    Math: Pre Algebra through Calculus
    Composition, Literature, Communications
    World History, American History, Government, Geography
    Physical & Life Sciences

Parent Support Group for Wednesday, April 15 Cancelled
Due to a scheduling conflict, our regular Wednesday night support group is cancelled for Wednesday, April 15. The support group will resume at its regular 6:30 start time at Catalyst on Wednesday, April 22. This group is led by Therapist Sheila Ridley, M.Ed., MSW, LSW.  All parents are welcome to attend, regardless of your student being enrolled at Catalyst.

Parents are encouraged to attend the free Parent Group at Catalyst on Wednesday evenings (6:30 PM). This group is led by Therapist Sheila Ridley, M.Ed., MSW, LSW.  All parents are welcome to attend, whether your student is enrolled at Catalyst or not.

Limited to the Month of March Only: To encourage participation in our parent support programs, Catalyst Education of Colorado will honor a $25 discount off April's Tuition for Catalyst Parents who attend each free Wednesday Evening Parent Discussion Group and each free Thursday Evening Parent Workshop. Non-Catalyst parents are welcome to attend the weekly Wednesday Parent Group and weekly Thursday Parent Workshops. The same $25 tuition discount per evening attended will apply to parents who start a new student in Catalyst by April 1.

Nearly 75% of Catalyst Students are involved in after-school activities! Enrollment is solid and growing in Chess, Theater Improv, and Art. After spring break, Catalyst High School will add Cooking, Film Making, and Hiking to the options, in hopes that most Catalyst Students will participate in more than one after-school activity. These classes are offered at an additional fee; scholarships are available.

Intensive Block G begins Monday, February 9, and will end Wednesday, February 18.  Student attendance hours during the intensive will be 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM. All Catalyst students will be taking one of the following courses:

• Alternative Energy Vehicles, Practical Engineering
• The History and Current Perspectives on Mental Illness
• Adolescent Law, Rights and Justice

President’s Day
Catalyst will be closed on Monday, February 16, for President’s Day.

located on the Southeast corner of 95th and Arapahoe donates 10% of proceeds to Catalyst when a customer mentions our school.

Our fall event is coming up! 
Join us on October 25 at the Scotch Corner Pub in Boulder for a festive fall evening to benefit Catalyst EDU. The gala event will feature fun Celtic music, fine Scottish fare, and a live and silent auction. Sponsors for the event include Marsha Moritz, friends and Compass House, as well as Velodyne Velocity Dynamics. Tickets are $65 each, or two for $115. Students are finishing up the first block of the year, ending on 9/10/08. Our next 4-week block will begin on 9/15/08.
